This publication brings together the voices of more than 100 people across Western Australia who, like us, have needed legal help. Through our stories, we want to remind people that behind every policy, service, or case is a person who deserves to be heard, respected, and treated fairly.
Step into our curated gallery of lived experience, where each theme is a chapter and space full of stories, visuals, and insights. Choose your own path, linger where you need to, and discover the barriers, the breakthroughs, and the hope.
The six themes you can explore are:
1. The struggle to find legal help
2. When legal help is missing
3. Who faces extra barriers
4. What kind of help is needed
5. The impact of legal help
6. Ideas for change and advocacy
This gallery of stories is not just for looking. It’s for learning, feeling, and acting.
We as CLWA are proud and excited to partner with people with lived experience to release this publication. Handing over power to promote their voice and wisdom is a deliberate choice. We want to thank and acknowledge the project working group for their grace, resilience, hope – and especially for their challenge to us all.
They have asked that we listen, engage with the stories in this gallery, and act. we urge you to support their recommendations, and to take deliberate steps to centre their voices – so that together we build a fairer WA, where everybody has access to the legal and social help that they need.
