Lived Experience and Legal Centres

Learn about how the Lived Experience project works with community legal services to include people with lived experience in their oeganisation.

Information for Organisations

For organisations interested in working meaningfully with people who have lived experience, it’s not always clear where to start, what is safe or what “good” looks like in practice.

Working with people who have lived experience can strengthen service design and build trust with communities – but only when it’s done well. Without the right foundations and support, it can feel unsure about where to start, what’s appropriate or how to manage risk and expectations.

Our project supports CEO’s and senior leaders to engage with Lived Experience expertise in ways that are ethical, trauma-informed and genuinely useful.

What We Offer

Working with people who have lived experience can improve outcomes, design services around clients’ needs, and build trust with communities – but only when it’s done well. Without the right foundations and support, you can feel unsure about where to start, what’s appropriate or how to manage risk and expectations.

We work alongside community legal services to work with lived experience expertise in ways that are thoughtful, respectful and practical. Our support includes leadership advice, organisational readiness discussions and guidance on engagement approaches and payment and support considerations.

We also share tools to help organisations plan small scale engagements, clarify roles and test approaches that suit their context. This work supports organisations to take considered first steps to work meaningfully with people who have lived experience.
