Thanks to Jessica Page for highlighting community legal sector funding issues from the Mid Year Review in The West Australian today. While the State delivers a $2 billion-plus surplus, community legal services are turning away more than 900 people every week.
We are disappointed that with such strong economic performance, we still haven’t seen the investment needed for community legal services. We welcome the government’s focus on building new homes, but community legal services are turning away record numbers of people, including those experiencing homelessness and women and children escaping family violence.
