More than 20 courthouses across regional WA set to close due to lack of security

Pilbara Community Legal Service CEO Joanna Collins has raised concerns about the impact the temporary closure of more than 20 regional and remote WA courthouses will have on access to justice across regional communities.

Speaking with ABC News, Ms Collins said the changes risk creating significant financial and logistical barriers for people already facing disadvantage, particularly in the Pilbara and other remote regions.

Community Legal WA also shares the concerns raised by the sector, including Aboriginal Legal Service of Western Australia, about increased reliance on remote appearances, reduced in-person court access and delays to justice outcomes.
