Community Legal WA are recruiting a Senior Policy and Advocacy Officer.

About the role

The Senior Policy and Advocacy Officer supports the delivery of CLWA policy and advocacy priorities, leading in allocated portfolios, to advance CLWA’s strategic objectives and influence.
Depending on the skills and experience of the successful candidate, the role will include a mix of law reform and systemic advocacy, government and social policy, strategic data and outcomes policy, and funding advocacy.

Key Duties

Policy and Systemic Advocacy

  • Utilise social justice and human rights principles to proactively deliver policy and systemic advocacy work, taking the lead in allocated portfolio areas
  • Make strategic contributions to CLWA’s social policy, law reform, data policy, government policy and campaign work
  • Undertake research and analysis and analyse data from a range of sources to develop and present an evidence base for CLWA positions
  • Develop a range of written position statements and support the development of communications and reporting
  • Actively participate in committees to represent CLWA and the sector
  • Support engagement with members of parliament and other senior decision makers
  • Work with the Strategic Communications Coordinator to develop communications and messaging and to promote policy and advocacy work
  • Influence, consult and engage with members and senior decision makers
  • Design and deliver mechanisms to achieve member and stakeholder engagement.

Hours

0.6 FTE, negotiable.

Salary

Social and Community Services Award Level 6 or 7 depending on skills and
experience
Level 6 from $97,278 pro rata ($49.07 per hour)
Level 7 from $104,816 pro rata ($52.88 per hour)

Employment type:

Fixed Term to 30 June 2027.

Salary Packaging:

PBI Salary Packaging is available.

Generous personal and annual leave, in accordance with the Community Legal Centres Association (WA) Inc Employment Agreement 2016 which is registered in the WA Industrial Relations Commission.

Flexible working hours and up to 50% of time can be worked from home.
